Guatemala: President Refuses to Testify Before Congress



Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina, embroiled in a escalating political crisis, has refused to testify before Congress concerning his possible involvement in the corruption scandal rocking the country, despite being summoned to do so.

Perez, who denies any wrongdoing and claims the charges are politically motivated, indicated that he would sent a written text in response to the allegations. In response to the latest developments, a new round of demonstrations is planned to demand Perez's resignation.
