Ecuador: Despite Gov't Call for Dialogue, Opposition Protests Planned



Despite Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa's call for a national dialogue on the government's proposed fiscal measures aimed at wealth distribution, the right-wing opposition plans to continue its demonstrations.

Its leaders, who reject participating in the debate, are meeting to discuss future protests, including a national strike. For supporters of Correa's Citizens Revolution, such actions are aimed at destabilizing the country and promoting a "soft coup". Liz Scherffius reports from Quito.
