The Privatisation of Seeds

Large agricultural companies are pushing for laws to “privatise seeds” and “judicialise producers”. This is one of the claims of the research carried out by international organisations Vía Campesina (which brings together rural movements from around the world) and GRAIN, who analysed legislation and public policies in over 30 countries from across four continents.

“Farmers’ seeds, one of the pillars of food production, are under attack by corporations and governments,” warns the report. The main companies in this market are Monsanto, Dupont Pionner, Syngenta, Bayer, and Dow. Read more.
