Turkey halts deployment of troops to Iraq, but refuses to withdraw

Turkey has halted its deployment of troops to northern Iraq but will not withdraw those already there, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday after Baghdad demanded the withdrawal of soldiers sent to an area near the city of Mosul, which is held by the terrorist Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

In a phone conversation with his Iraqi counterpart late on Monday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu reiterated Ankara's respect for Iraq's territorial integrity,.. Read more.
