Fuck Staatswiet

Greek parliament passes new austerity measures

Greek lawmakers have approved controversial economic reforms proposed by the country's creditors in return for financial aid.

The bill was favored by a majority vote in the 300-seat parliament. The new austerity measures aim to cut pension spending and speed up privatizations. The ruling will allow major state assets to be run by a new privatization fund. The fund will take control of public utilities and other assets for 99 years.

The Greek Finance Ministry will appoint the majority of members on the fund's executive board, but the international lenders will appoint its chairman. Meanwhile, rallies were held outside Greece's parliament to protest against the move.

Daesh loses control of last oil wells in Iraq

The Iraqi oil ministry has announced that Daesh terrorists no longer control any oil wells in the country. The ministry said the terrorist lost control of last oil wells in Iraq after they were driven out of Shirqat district near the city of Kirkuk.

Iraqi forces retook Shirqat from Daesh terrorists on Thursday. According to oil and security officials, terrorists still control the Najma oilfield near the northern town of Qayyarah; however they cannot reach its producing wells due to the ongoing government offensive and airstrikes.

Last month, Iraqi forces recaptured Qayyarah oilfield in an offensive aimed at liberating Mosul which is the largest city still under Daesh's control.

Famine in Yemen

In Yemen famine is not far away. BBC Arabic reveals exclusive footage of the growing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, where 2 million people are acutely malnourished. The UN estimates over 325,000 children are on the brink of starvation.

The war in Yemen has pushed a country which traditionally suffers from a shortage of food to the brink. Air strikes and conflict on the ground have isolated people in the villages and forced the closure of 600 hospitals. Without access to food or healthcare, millions are at risk.

Children are those most effected. "I never imagined I would ever see a child like this in Yemen, it scares me that this may be the beginning of famine", says Dr Ashwaq Muharram. The extent of this looming disaster is yet to be seen, but what is clear is that if the situation continues Yemen could lose an entire generation.

Moscow Denies Russian, Syrian Planes Struck Aleppo Aid Convoy

Just two days after US-coalition forces "mistakenly" attacked a Syrian army post, killing 62 and shortly after the latest Syrian ceasefire ended, a UN aid convoy near Aleppo was struck on Monday allegedly killing 12 people, according to a London-based (and UK-funded) war monitor.

While the United Nations confirmed the convoy was hit, it gave no details on who carried out the attack or how many died as world leaders converged on New York for their annual U.N. gathering under the shadow of fresh violence in the Syrian civil war. However, in an attempt to shift the public's focus on "Russian and Syrian aggression", the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group, the same group which three years ago falsely accused the Assad regime of launching a chemical weapon attack that was "caught" on a YouTube clip, said the attacks were carried out by either Syrian or Russian aircraft. Referring to the conflicts in the Middle East, the Iranian president slammed some governments for supporting the terrorists for their own political gains. He then condemned major powers for violating the sovereignty of a number of developing countries.

During the Margarita meeting, Iran handed over the rotating presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement to Venezuela.

Barbaren

Ewald Engelen - Het verkiezingsseizoen is begonnen.

15 years of deception; 9/11 reviewed

On 11 September 2001, the world was shocked. It proved to be a milestone in history. Suddenly we were "at war"; a 'war on terror' we were told that proved to be endless and hopeless.

Fifteen years after the event, this 'WeAreChange.NL' documentary challenges your ability "to see what you see" and invites you to critically re-examine and take responsibility accordingly regarding the impact of 9/11 on our lives.

We let activists, journalists, scientists, people in the street, and critics reflect on the initial events and its ramifications in the present.

Chemo killing up to half of cancer patients in first month

Chemotherapy is killing up to half of all breast and lung cancer patients within the first month of treatment—although the drug is never cited as the cause of death, the first-ever study into the lethal effects of the drug has discovered.

Some cancer patients are “at substantial risk” of dying within 30 days of starting chemotherapy, say the researchers, and these include older people, those with breast cancer, and those whose drug therapy seeks to reverse the disease. Read more.

Dangerous Products that We’re Unknowingly Using in Our Day-to-day Life

In today’s highly controversial and aggressive world, virtually anything can present a threat to the life of a human being, not just wars, climate change, or short-sighted and often criminal actions of certain politicians.

As it has been shown by a number of scientific studies, the activities of a number of American corporations present a very real threat the well-being of the population mainly due to the use of genetically modified substances in their products while manufacturing substandard health and beauty aids. The truth is that it’s the people of developing countries that are being affected by these fraudulent business practices the most, since Western corporations try to suppress any information about the health effects of their products to obtain maximum profit.
