'Riyadh, Ankara, Doha behind intense fighting near Damascus'

The Syrian government has accused Turkish, Saudi and Qatari spy agencies of being responsible for the recent escalation of terrorist attacks near the capital Damascus.

In two letters to the UN, the Syrian Foreign Ministry called on the Security Council to take necessary measures against what it calls acts of terror by al-Nusrah Front and other terrorist groups. The foreign ministry said such attacks are aimed at disrupting the upcoming peace talks in Geneva.

Damascus has previously expressed regret over what it described as the UN’s failure to condemn terrorist attacks across the war-torn country.
