Trump signs new executive order

U-S President Donald Trump has signed a revised ban on travelers from some Muslim-majority nations. The US attorney general says the executive order is aimed at protecting the US civilians.

In the new version, Iraqis and permanent U-S residents, namely green card-holders are exempt from the ban. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said Iraq is an important ally of the US against Daesh. He also appreciated Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s quote-cooperation to boost U-S national security.

The U-S secretary of state further defended Trump’s travel ban and said Washington was obliged to avoid the risks of accepting refugees. The original order temporarily blocked citizens of Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Syria and Libya from traveling to the United States. The new travel ban is expected to spark a new round of lawsuits and controversy.
