Zen meditation helps pain control

Individuals practicing Zen meditation feel less pain as the sensation is not processed in the part of their brains responsible for appraisal, reasoning or memory formation.

According to a study published in Pain, highly experienced mediators report lower pain responses as well as less activity in those parts of the brain that are linked to cognitive processes, emotion and memory.
