Hugo Chávez calls for Latin American unity



Venezuelan Vice President, Nicolas Maduro, read a letter from Hugo Chavez at the First Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), in Chile on Monday, Chavez urged the region's leaders to work together on a broad range of issues, from energy policies to literacy, he also criticized the U.S. embargo on Cuba and the UK militarization of the Falkland Islands. 

The Bolivarian leader also regretted being unable to attend the regional meeting "I'm sorry I can't attend this meeting in Santiago de Chile, but as you all know, since December I've been battling once again for my health," Commander Chavez said.
