Iran slams EU's fresh bans against Iranian institutions, companies

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has slammed the European Union for imposing fresh sanctions on a number of Iranian institutions

The ministry’s spokeswoman, Marziyeh Afkham, says the bloc’s move, right at a time when nuclear talks are being held between Iran and the Pfive-plus-one group, is rather astonishing. She described the EU’s fresh sanctions against Iranian institutions as unconventional pressure at this juncture. Afkham says Iran has voiced its objection to the European Union through its embassy in Brussels.

The EU has imposed sanctions on Iran’s Sina Bank, Power Plant’s Equipment Manufacturing Company, Naftiran Intertrade Company (NICO) and Naftiran Intertrade Company. Sorinet Commercial Trust bankers and Sharif University of Technology were again included on the list of entities subject to restrictive measures on the basis of a new statement of reasons.
