Saudi Arabia's fresh attacks target Yemen's capital

Saudi Arabia keeps pounding Yemen, worsening the grave humanitarian situation in the poor Arab nation.

In the latest attacks, Saudi warplanes have bombed the Hamdan district in the capital Sana’a. There's no word on possible casualties, yet. Earlier, Saudi jets targeted several districts in Amran, Lahij, and Jawf provinces.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni army and their allied Ansarullah fighters have launched retaliatory attacks against a military post in Saudi Arabia’s Jizan province. They've also attacked Saudi-backed forces in Ta’izz province.

Riyadh has announced a five-day truce which is to take effect from Sunday midnight. The kingdom, however, hasn't complied with the terms of the previous ceasefires. Saudi Arabia’s onslaught on Yemen has claimed nearly 49-hundred lives since it started in March.

Report: Jews around world are becomming increasingly critical of Israel

The study conducted by the Jewish People Policy Institute shows that large numbers of Jewish people feel uncomfortable with being seen as representatives of Israel. Jewish youth outside Israel are also growing more alienated from Tel Aviv.

They doubt that Israel truly wants peace with Palestinians. The Jewish people outside Israel also say Tel Aviv needs to consult them on sensitive issues, since its military actions affect them. The report was released a year after Israel’s deadly attack on Gaza, which left over 21-hunderd Palestinians dead.

The Palestinian Authority says Israel’s aggression and settlement activities are the main reasons for the failure of any form of the so-called peace talks. More than half a million Israelis live in over 120 settlements built on occupied Palestinian territories.

Catalan pro-independence leaders ready to declare unilateral independence

Catalan pro-independence leaders have sent a clear message to supporters and opponents of their campaign. They say they're ready to declare unilateral independence if they achieve success in September's regional elections.

Spain's conservative national government fiercely opposes independence for Catalonia. However, an alliance of pro-independence parties wants the regional vote to serve as a de facto referendum by running on a joint ticket, and campaigning on the single issue of independence.

The rich northeastern region accounts for a fifth of Spain's output. But many Catalans say they get a raw deal from the way their taxes are redistributed to the rest of Spain.
