Russia makes proposals for Syria ceasefire

Members of the International Syria Support Group are holding a meeting in the German city of Munich in a bid to keep the Syria peace process alive. Participants also want to agree on aid access and humanitarian deliveries to Syria’s besieged areas.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Moscow has made a specific proposal for a ceasefire in Syria and is waiting for Washington’s response. The Munich meeting comes as the latest round of talks between the Syrian government and the opposition in Geneva was suspended until February 25.

The U-N, the U-S, and some Western countries accuse Russia of undermining the talks. Syria blames Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey for the failure of the Geneva negotiations.
