France warns Israel over Palestinian entry ban

Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault says Tel Aviv’s decision to bar Palestinians from entering Israel could escalate tensions and lead to more violence.

On Friday, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, also warned that the move could amount to collective punishment that’s illegal under international law. Israel has revoked 83-thousand entry permits for Palestinians to visit relatives in Israel and has tightened movement restrictions in the occupied West Bank.

The decision follows an attack that left four dead and several others injured in Tel Aviv.
