Daesh loses control of last oil wells in Iraq

The Iraqi oil ministry has announced that Daesh terrorists no longer control any oil wells in the country. The ministry said the terrorist lost control of last oil wells in Iraq after they were driven out of Shirqat district near the city of Kirkuk.

Iraqi forces retook Shirqat from Daesh terrorists on Thursday. According to oil and security officials, terrorists still control the Najma oilfield near the northern town of Qayyarah; however they cannot reach its producing wells due to the ongoing government offensive and airstrikes.

Last month, Iraqi forces recaptured Qayyarah oilfield in an offensive aimed at liberating Mosul which is the largest city still under Daesh's control.
