117.5 million people on or below poverty line in EU

Close to a quarter of the entire population of the European Union is living on or below the poverty line. That's according to data just published by the bloc's statistical office, Eurostat.

Campaigners say very high youth unemployment levels in nine EU member states is contributing to the problem. Jerome Hughes reports.
